County’s dog warden calls on pet-lovers to report dogs cruelly treated

THE county’s dog warden is calling on pet-lovers to report dogs which they believe are being cruelly treated after a starving stray was found.

Neglected pooch Chiefley was picked up in the Wyre Forest area last month. Weighing just 10kg he was emaciated, had sore skin, overgrown nails and was frightened.

Worcestershire’s Animal Welfare Officer Pip Singleton, said: “In all my years in this role I still can’t believe how people choose to be cruel instead of kind to these loyal, caring and defenceless animals.

“Chiefley has put on 5kg already during his recovery at our vets, which is funded by the council and ultimately taxpayers. So not only do these heartless people cause pain to defenceless animals, they cost the public purse.”

She says if anyone in Redditch has a dog they are struggling to keep or are concerned about the welfare of an animal, they should call the team on 01905 822799.
