Chance to spice up your social diary in good company here in Redditch

Redditch Editorial 27th Oct, 2019   0

TUCK in to a delicious curry and make new friends into the bargain at a new monthly social get-together.

‘Curry Buddy’ is the brainchild of mental health therapists Laney Walsh and Brenda Morrison Webb who’ve joined with the award-winning Nasim Ahmed of Rasoi Cottage in Oakenshaw to produce the perfect recipe to combat loneliness and isolation.

The two of them set up the Community Interest Company Ahead of Wellbeing in response to some of the issues facing local people in Redditch today.

“Loneliness is a huge problem across both Redditch and Bromsgrove,” said Laney.

“People tend to think it’s something which only affect older people, and they can indeed suffer from it, but we’ve found from our peer support groups and one-to-one sessions that it’s something that affects all ages and both genders.”

Together they came up with the Curry Buddy idea to ease the problem.

“The idea came from a collective knowledge of each others’ learning from their own mental health journey, and the desire to help people get well,” said Laney.

“Curry Buddy offers the opportunity to meet new people, whilst enjoying the food that this award-winning restaurant is renowned for.”

The evenings will take place on the first Monday of each month starting from November.

There’s no entrance fee and people just pay for their meal – a good time and fine company comes free of charge.

Places on the evenings need to be pre booked – simply call Rasoi Cottage on 01527 758330.
