TOP local choir the Alcester Singers are holding their annual Young Musicians competition on Friday, November 22 at 7pm.
The competition is open to musicians aged between 11 and 18 who live or attend school within 10 miles of Alcester and are of Grade 5 standard or above.
There is a prize of £200 for the winner and the opportunity to perform at the choir’s summer concert in July alongside Alcester Singers and other Young Musician competition winners.
During the evening there will be a performance by last year’s winner, pianist Jessica Madden, who has recently performed recitals at Holy Trinity Church, Stratford and studies at the Junior Birmingham Conservatoire.
Previous winners have gone on to have successful musical careers and this is an opportunity to hear talented local young people perform.
Everyone is welcome to attend and tickets are available on the door and cost just £3.
The competition prize is provided from the Howarth Memorial Fund and the Brinson Trophy is also presented to the winner.
The competition will be held at St Nicholas Primary school in Alcester and entries should be made by November 15. Details and an entry form are on www.alcestersingers.co.uk or email [email protected].
