Huge tree crashes through Redditch house with tenant inside

A FALLING oak tree crashed through the roof of a tenant’s property while he was sleeping inside on Wednesday night.

According to removal experts Robinson Tree Surgery, the man was warned to leave the Hawkesbury Close property a few hours earlier when the tree was ‘leaning’ and ‘looked like it might fall further’.

The man, said to be in his 20s, decided to stay put only for the tree to fall through the roof near his bedroom.

He has since left the property and will stay elsewhere while the tree is being removed.

George Robinson, who owns Robinson Tree Surgery, said: “We have cordoned off the area and made it safe.

“The tree will soon be removed by a crane.”

A neighbour told the Standard: “I didn’t hear it go down but in the morning we had to leave our house too.

“Thankfully it has been made safe and we have been cleared to go back into our house.”
