THREE members of the Rotary Club of Redditch have received the highest award given by Rotary – the Paul Harris Fellowship.
And at a special Christmas lunch at the Abbey Hotel, assistant governor for Area 6 Amal Rampal was on hand to make the presentations.
The Paul Harris Fellowship is for people within Rotary who have demonstrated ‘Service before Self’.
To add to the drama of the day none of the recipients were aware of what was going to happen until the announcement was made.
They are John Witherspoon, a past President of the Rotary Club of Redditch, and current club secretary.
Philip Roberts, also a past President, and the lead Rotarian for the October Midland Youth Jazz Orchestra show.
Peter Williams too is a past President and is the current treasurer and supports most Rotary charities when he can.
After lunch the Rotarians and their guests were treated to a talk on ‘The History of Christmas’ by Phillip Bowen, who was for many years the Deputy Headmaster at Bromsgrove School.
