Volunteer and discover the great outdoors at Ipsley Alders in Redditch

LOCAL people can get closer to nature and take on the battle of the bulge by volunteering for Worcestershire Wildlife Trust.

The nature conservation organisation relies on more than 400 volunteers across the county to help with their work and is opening its doors for more to join in north Worcestershire, particularly at Redditch’s nationally acclaimed Ipsley Alders Marsh at Winyates Green.

“We’ve got several beautiful nature reserves in north Worcestershire that all need a helping hand to make them even better for the wildlife that live there,” said volunteer development officer Emma Wurmli.

“Our volunteers are vital to our work and involved in almost everything we do – from helping on nature reserves to inspiring the next generation through events and work with schools.

“We’re encouraging anyone who wants to work off their Christmas puds to make a new resolution and get involved this year.

“Volunteering offers people the chance to try something new, look afresh at the year ahead, get fit, meet new people and help our precious environment.”

Volunteer work parties take place on both weekdays and weekends. Training is provided so no experience is necessary – the Trust asks for enthusiasm and a willingness to get involved.

New volunteers are welcome to join any of the volunteering groups including the team at Ipsley Alders Marsh in Winyates Green.

The team meet once a month and will be undertaking tree pollarding and scrub clearance through the winter.
