New Redditch run aims to clear your head and the air as you jog round

A NEW way of running is coming to Redditch and it could help boost positive mental health.

‘Run Talk Run Redditch’ is launching in the town on February 18 and will act as an ‘exercise support group’.

Organiser Nick Jackson said that the scheme is perfect for those who want to meet for a gentle 5km jog and a chat about how they’re feeling.

“I’m not a running coach or a therapist,” he said, “I’m just enthusiastic about running and a sense of community being a very useful tool if you are experiencing mental health issues.

“It’s been so beneficial for me to be able to talk to other people who are experiencing similar and to get out and about as well.”

Run Talk Run is being rolled globally across other towns and cities by founder Jess Robson who started the scheme after struggling with formal therapy and seeking an alternative space to be open about what she was experiencing.

Jess said: “Before every run there is a window of time to meet the other runners and say hello.

“It’s alright if you’re a little anxious and quiet – we all ‘get it’ at Run Talk Run.

“The leader then explains the logistics of the route and that at the forefront of our runs is support… this really is a safe space to talk about how you’re really doing.”

Run Talk Run Redditch will take place every Tuesday at 6.45pm at Redditch Cricket, Hockey & Rugby Club on Bromsgrove Road.
