Studley barber to open shop on day off to raise cash for Studley in Bloom

A STUDLEY barber is opening his shop on his day off with the proceeds from all haircuts going to fund Studley in Bloom.

Matt Layton of The Gentleman’s House on Alcester Road is making the big hearted gesture to mark his take over of the business from previous owner Mark Allen.

“I used to work in Aldi down just the road from the shop and Studley in Bloom were always there trying to raise funds to make the village look nicer,” said Matt.

“I know for instance that they spend £2,500 a year on compost alone and if I can help raise just some of that then it will all be worthwhile.

“I used to say to Mark I wanted a career not a job and he told me to go off and get trained which I did and now he’s signed the shop over to me.

“I’m just happy now to help a good local group and I’ll also be making a donation myself.”

Matt’s big charity day in aid of Studley in Bloom is this Monday coming, February 24 and he’s open from 9am to 4pm. All proceeds to Studley in Bloom.
