Storytelling, colouring and books galore as the Kingfisher celebrates

Redditch Editorial 3rd Mar, 2020   0

THE Kingfisher Shopping Centre has teamed up with World Book Day organisers to bring stories to life this week.

Starting on World Book Day – Thursday, March 5 and running until Sunday, March 8, the event space in Milward Square opposite The Range, will be transformed into a cosy reading corner with a storyteller spot, as well as beanbags for reading and a giant open book for photo opportunities.

From Thursday to Saturday, there will be fun and entertaining storytelling sessions with colouring in competitions, a character fancy dress on Saturday, plus meet and greet sessions with Charlie the Kingfisher mascot.

There will also be a quiet reading hour on the Saturday from 10.30am until 11.30am.

The following day, Sunday, there will be a space where children can pick up a book to read or colour in.

There will also be a book donation station from Thursday, March 5 for two weeks at Guest Services, where shoppers can donate unwanted books to be re-used in an upcoming reading project.

“In this digital age it is important that we still nurture a love of literature and I am sure that many of us remember how wonderful story time was at school!” said Domonique Lippett from the Kingfisher.

“We believe everyone should be given the opportunity to enjoy reading, or being read to, so the event is a perfect way to celebrate a day that is dedicated to literature.”
