Lifesaving defibrillator installed at St Andrews Church

A LIFESAVING defibrillator has been installed at St Andrews Church in the centre.

The initiative has been driven by Church Hill Big Local who, working with St Andrews and the Community Heartbeat Trust this week saw it become a reality.

“We were aware of two current debrillators in Church Hill Centre at the doctors surgery and YMCA Worcestershire’s Gordon Anstis House, but these were only accessible to the public during their respective opening hours,” said Chris Thomas of Big Local.

“Because of all this we wanted to provide a 24 hr accessible AED for the community in or around the centre.

“A discussion with St Andrews Methodist Church made it apparent they would be only too happy to have a unit installed on the outside of the building but were happy to cover the nominal cost of electricity that runs it to keep the AED pads heated ready for use.

“We really would like to thank them for the support and cooperation on this project.”

The Community Heartbeat Trust is set to deliver a defibrillator awareness session for all those interested in the basics of defibrillator use.
