REDDITCH Shopmobility is to close from 1pm on Saturday, March 21 until further notice.
The decision comes in the wake of the unfolding coronavirus pandemic.
Shopmobility, which is run by the Borough Council, operates out of Car Park 4 and is a popular service for the less able to access the shops.
The authority is also urging that people only make essential visits to its public buildings.
It also says that:
Home visits to people ‘self-isolating’ are being restricted to essential or emergency visits only and during such visits members of the household will be required to be in a different room.
Decisions on whether to carry out visits under building control inspection arrangements will be made on a case by case basis.
Decisions on carrying out planning site visits will also be made on a case by case basis.
‘Personal’ waste when self-isolating should be double bagged and put aside for at least 72 hours, then put in people’s usual external household waste bin.
Sports and activity sessions delivered directly by council teams are suspended.
Homelessness drop in sessions including for people threatened with homelessness are now available via telephone only.
The Redditch Palace Theatre is closed.
Learningonline have suspended all of their sessions until further notice. They will be supporting current learners remotely.
Main reception at the Town Hall will now operate from the cash office to encourage social distancing and to protect staff and customers.
There will be no bulky waste collections until further notice and the authority will not be taking on any new garden waste customers.
