RISE above coronavirus – that’s the call from The Shakespeare Hospice.
The care at home hospice, which covers South Warwickshire, has had its finances hit by the pandemic, at a time when its services are in greater demand than ever.
Now it is calling for people to rise above the crisis and do something special like climb Ben Nevis with the hospice as beneficiary from any funds raised.
People can also make a donation or set up a regular gift.
A spokesperson said: “The services we provide are needed now more than ever.
“Our Hospice at Home team continue to work on the frontline, working in situations made increasingly more challenging by the current coronavirus crisis.
“We are already feeling the impact of this crisis as the demand for our support is increasing.”
Like many similar organisations the hospice’s adult bereavement, children’s counselling and day hospice services are all being delivered remotely by telephone.
However staff are still going out and caring for people in their homes.
“Like many other health care professionals, the delivery of personal protective equipment (PPE) has been delayed and a recent appeal to our community for items has been overwhelming and gratefully received.
“In particular, in caring for our patients at end of life, wearing the necessary PPE has also been particularly challenging, a reality of the times in which we are now operating.”
Support has also come from comanies like Alcester-based from Mudwalls Farm which has been delivering packs of vegetables for the team to take out to patients and carers.
“As your community Hospice we thank you so much for all of your support, your spirit is shining through all of these challenges,” said the spokesperson.
“We need your help now more than ever and you will be making a real difference. Please visit www.theshakespearehospice.org.uk”
