REDDITCH’S very own stand up comedy magician, Steve Henn is to bring his sold out Palace Theatre Comedy Nights direct to the big screen TV every Friday night during lockdown.
Steve will be streaming live from the Henn House and bringing a bunch of comedians, entertainers and musicians direct into your living room for a free night of fun.
“My plan is to continue the magic of laughter,” he said.
“The goal is quite simple: “Give people the opportunity to enjoy themselves during the madness of lockdown.”
The format will be a short chat with his guest and then each comedian will perform seven minutes of ‘sit down’ comedy from their bedroom or isolation chamber of choice.
Steve said: “Technology being what it is today allows me to split screen an interview and then throw it open to the performer, who can broadcast directly to my home studio using either a smart phone, lap top, tablet or home computer.
“All of this in then streamed to YouTube, Facebook and Twitch live and in real reel time.
“Nothing should stop live entertainment and I refuse to let this life changing situation prevent us from giving people laugh.”
The live stream will open at 8.10pm every Friday night and then go live from The Henn House at 8.20pm.
“People ask, am I not concerned, performing comedy to an empty room with no reaction or laughs?” said Steve.
“Well that happens to me 98 per cent of the time anyway.”
Viewers will also be able to leave comments – a kind of online heckle, guffaw or applause, and the comedians will be able to see these and react accordingly.
“I know it’s not quite the same as a packed out comedy club, but this is the closet you’ll get to live comedy in quite a long time,” said Steve who marks the show as ‘parental discretion’.
