Teenager arrested following house fire in Redditch

POLICE investigating a house fire in Redditch have confirmed that a 15-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of committing arson ‘with intent to endanger life’.

The teenager remains in police custody.

The fire service was able to put out the fire at a home in Lilac Close, Redditch after arriving at around 2.30am yesterday.

Three neighbouring properties were evacuated as a precaution.




Detective Inspector Lisa Duncan said: “Understandably, this incident will be a concern for local residents. I want to reassure them, and the wider Redditch community, that at this time we believe it to be an isolated incident.

“Officers currently remain at the scene while we investigate the circumstances jointly with the Fire Service.”


Anyone with any information about the incident, that hasn’t yet spoken to officers, is asked to call 101 providing incident number 101s of June 14.
