REDDITCH police are appealing for witnesses following a car crash yesterday, Thursday, July 2.

Emergency services had to close Astwood Lane between Astwood Bank and Feckenham to deal with the incident in which a car had swered off the road and hit a tree.

Two land ambulances, a paramedic and the Midlands air Ambulance attended the scene and the driver, a 72-year-old man, was rushed to hospital in a serious condition.

The driver had been at the wheel of a white Peugeot Partner van on Astwood Lane which was seen to swerve onto the opposite lane, before drifting back onto the correct side of the carriageway before colliding with a tree on the verge.

He was taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham where he remains in intensive care.

Police are asking for anyone who saw the incident or who has any information regarding it to contact them on 101 quoting reference 411I 020720.
