TRIBUTES have poured in for the man fatally stabbed in Redditch on Wednesday evening.
Named locally as Colton Bryan, he was a popular musician who had played before thousands of people at the Morton Stanley Festival in 2018.
Mr Bryan died at his home in Guinness Close, Headless Cross.
Police arrested a man in his 20s on suspicion of murder at an address in Redditch at around midday the following day, July 16.
“It was a shock when I found out it was Colton who had died,” said local photographer Tony Banks.
“He was a nice guy and a fantastic saxophonist.
“The music community is a tight-knit one in Redditch and you just never expect anything like this to happen here.”
A neighbour has told how she heard screaming from Colton’s flat on Wednesday evening, and went to investigate.
As she went in a man dressed in black and wearing a face mask barged passed her.
Inside she described the scene that met her as ‘like a horror movie’ with blood everywhere.
She took over from Colton’s girlfriend who was trying to stem the flow of blood and cradled the musician as his life slipped away.
Detective Inspector Mark Walters from Redditch police said: “A man is now in police custody who has been arrested on suspicion of murder.
“The victim’s family are being supported by specially trained officers at what is understandably a very traumatic and upsetting time.”
