Tesco joins Morrisons in backing Redditch food parcels for needy

SUPERMARKET giant Tesco has joined the Redditch summer holidays food parcels initiative.

The scheme, designed to help the most vulnerable families in Redditch through the school holidays, is being run by the Disability Support Project and Support Redditch.

As reported last week, Morrisons started the initiative through their donation of food to the scheme that will help the 30 most vulnerable families in the borough receive a food parcel delivery once a week.

Now Tesco has added its weight to further boost the programme.

“Across the 30 families there are more than 100 children being supported – so we’re pleased to add Tesco to the mix of suppliers to ensure the parcels are providing everything they need for the week,” said Emma Marshall for Support Redditch.

Mollie Mae Hallahan, newly appointed community champion for Tesco in Redditch said: “I am so excited to be able to support this project.

“I saw the article in the Redditch Standard and knew Tesco could help.”

The families in receipt of support are the most vulnerable and have been identified by the local council based on their hardship records and in full compliance with strict data protection laws.
