A REDDITCH Pearson Btec student is still waiting anxiously for her results – even though they should have been published today along with the A Level results.
Georgia Davis has been studying a Btec in Child Play, Learning and Development at Heart of Worcestershire College in Redditch.
She’d been hoping the grades she receives today, Thursday, August 13, would see her through to studying Teaching at Birmingham City University.
Instead she’s been stuck between Pearson and HoW College waiting for her results to come through.
Mum Jo says the problem is that if she doesn’t get the grades she needs Georgia will be left behind in the rush for places in clearing.
“We’ve been told it’s a national issue with Pearson and that they are going to work through the night to clear it, but it still puts my daughter at a disadvantage,” she said.
Jo had initially contacted Pearson about the delay and it had blamed HoW College.
But when Jo replied that HoW College had said it was a Pearson problem the exam company admitted that ‘there were some delays with Btecs’.
“The annoying thing is that BCU turned their conditional offers into unconditional offers on most subjects – one of the exceptions being teaching,” said Jo, from Hunt End.
“It’s a really stressful day, not knowing and not being able to do anything about it.”
A spokesperson for Heart of Worcestershire College said: “We would like to be clear with all our students awaiting results today that along with many other Colleges, we did meet all of the Pearson deadlines given.
“When we have checked, several times each week since that deadline passed, if any further information was required we have been told that everything was in order and no further information was needed.
“We were expecting the results earlier this week and have been making numerous attempts to get this resolved with them.
“We have now received a limited number of results and will email these to students shortly, however we still await many others.
“Please know that we share your frustration and concern about this situation and know that as soon as we have received your results, we will be in contact.”
