YEAR 9 pupils at RSA Academy Arrow Vale are self-isolating following a positive case of Covid-19 at the school.
The Green Sward Lane secondary school will remain open for all other year groups.
A letter from Principle Ian Mellor, seen by the Standard, was sent to parents explaining the situation.
It said: “We have been advised by Public Health that there has been a confirmed case of Covid-19 within Year 9.
“Whilst we have been told the risk to others remains low, as a precaution, on the advice provided by a senior practitioner from Public Health and our own risk assessment, we have taken the decision to close the Year 9 bubble.”
The Year 9 bubble has been told to stay at home until Monday, September 21 which will be two weeks after the case was first confirmed.
Mr Mellor added: “We are asking you to do this to reduce further spread of Covid-19 to others in the community.
“At the end of the 14-day period of self-isolation, if your child is well, they can return to usual activities.”
Dr Kathryn Cobain, director for Public Health Worcestershire, said: “This case was quickly identified and the school is being supported by Public Health.
“Additional measures have been put in place to protect the school and help minimise any further disruption.
“The bubble which the individual was in, is now self-isolating for 14 days in line with guidance and will continue their learning through remote access.”
