The Remembrance Sunday Service in Redditch is going virtual this year so everyone in the town can take part in remembering the fallen.
The decision was taken to prevent crowds gathering in the town centre for an event that traditionally attracts thousands of people.
Instead much of the service and wreath laying has been prerecorded in advance and Council Leader Matt Dormer is aiming for it to go ‘live’ on the Redditch Standard and Redditch Council websites on Sunday just before 11am.
Just go to www.RedditchStandard.co.uk on Sunday at 10.45am.
The Redditch Standard will also be at St Stephen’s Church at 11am on Sunday to Facebook Live prayers and the Last Post. Just head to our Facebook page at 11am on Sunday by clicking here.
Coun Dormer said: “We took this decision because we know how important Remembrance Sunday is to residents and how well attended it is.
“We didn’t want to encourage crowds in the lockdown and felt this was the safest solution.
“It means the service will be available virtually for everyone in town to take part in and pause for reflection as we remember the fallen.”
The Standard were there to take photos of some of the Redditch dignitaries who took part in the prerecorded wreath laying:

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old: Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning. We will remember them.
