THE Kingfisher Shopping Centre is set to welcome a new innovative concept when it unveils a uniquely designed department store in the former Marks and Spencer space.

After agreeing a multi leasing deal, the store, which is set to open Spring 2021, is set to see the union of high-street fashion, food and convenience elements within a single unit.

It will feature leading fashion and lifestyle chain Next and coffee shop chain Muffin Break while talks are ongoing to welcome an upmarket food hall,

Ken Williams, general manager at Kingfisher, said: “We are so excited to bring this unique offering to our guests.

“I have no doubt it will be a huge hit and complement our existing retailer mix.

“The proposed new food hall will provide a new dynamic and we can’t wait to share more details on this in the near future.”

Next will increase the size of its new store to c. 20,000 sq ft as part of the agreement, in what is one of only two new shopping centre deals completed by the retailer in the last 12 months and will offer its full range of mens’, womens’, childrenswear and homeware within the new store.

Muffin Break will remain in the same location, but increasing in size to circa. 2,000 sq ft.

As part of the development, Kingfisher will also introduce a dedicated click and collect parking area in car park 2, which will be located directly adjacent to the new entrance to the food hall and Next’s click and collect lobby.
