MAGICAKES owner Shelley Millward has expressed her immense gratitude to the people of Redditch after they rallied together to support her business.
Our appeal two weeks ago to save the independent cake shop led to people donating ingredients and cash to help talented Shelley get back on her feet.
One person donated £150 to Shelley who was, and still is, struggling to pay her bills due to last month’s lockdown and fewer customers.
A letter delivered to Magicakes anonymously read: “Having listened to your plight the other week, I have decided to donate £150 to help you.
“Please use this either to pay your rent in December or to purchase ingredients. Keep up the good work and don’t give up.”
The letter, signed by ‘secret entrepreneur’, and the enclosed cheque meant a great deal to Shelley when she arrived into work on Saturday.
“Thank you from the bottom of my heart to whomever sent this to me – it means so much that people care about us small businesses,” said Shelley.
“I work hard, and hate taking anything from anyone, but sometimes I know I need to as my business means so much to me.”
A Go Fund Me page – CLICK HERE – has also been set up for the Winyates Centre cake shop, reaching £117 so far.
“There is so much good in Redditch and all kinds of help, you just need to make sure you fight,” added Shelley.
“It’s hard, don’t get me wrong, I still have a lot to do to save my business – but I will keep fighting.”
