A YEAR Five pupil at Birchensale Middle School is all smiles after designing a fantastic face mask.

Zymal Farooq had entered a competition organised by West Mercia Police to improve the design of the Police’s face masks.

Pupils from Birchensale Middle School took to the task enthusiastically and all the year groups competed to design the best masks.

The winning designs were selected from each year group and then an overall winner was selected.

Zymal Farooq, aged 10 and from Year 5, was the overall Birchensale School winner and her design was entered into the Redditch wide competition.

Her face mask came third overall and PC Lloyd Stone visited Birchensale to present her with her very own face mask made with her own design.

Birchensale headteacher Mark Brazier said: “Birchensale pupils are always delighted to take part in community projects and we have some fantastic artists in the school.

“I’m very proud of all our pupils and delighted that Zymal’s winning design will be worn by the Police as they support our community over the festive period.”
