Redditch firm Mettis works hard to keep staff safe

REDDITCH firm Mettis is helping to lead the way in the battle against Covid-19 by helping to keep its workers safe.

Coronavirus may be on the retreat in the UK, but as we all know it can quickly surge back and one of the ways it can be easily picked up and transmitted is through people going to and from work.

Redditch is a manufacturing town where not everyone can work from home and Mettis, based on the Enfield industrial estate with 350 employees, is one of the borough’s biggest employers, and has been for the past 80 years.

Peter Mills, the firm’s environment, health and safety director said: “I’m really proud of the way everyone at Mettis has worked together to keep each other safe.

“Staff have been supportive of the extensive changes we’ve made to our working practices and have adopted all the measures we’ve put in place.

“Their commitment has made these challenging times safer for everyone on site.”

The company has also worked closely with the trade union Unite, meeting representatives regularly resulting in its support in helping the aerospace giant manage the effects the pandemic on its operations.
