THE Leader of the Labour group, Bill Hartnett, has been defeated in the local elections in what has turned out to be a spectacular night for the Conservatives.
His loss to Karen Ashley means Labour are reduced to just four councillors on the borough council with the party also losing its deputy group leader Greg Chance.
With just the West ward left to declare it makes it a triumphant night for Redditch Conservatives and a disastrous one for the town’s Labour group.
