Scouts say thank you and give key workers a big round of applause

A ROUND of applause and more for key workers and helpers was performed by Studley Scout Group last Saturday as the village said a mighty ‘thank you’ to all who have worked tirelessly through the pandemic.

The event marked the first UK national day of thanks the following day, an opportunity for the country to come together in the wake of the pandemic to thank the unsung heroes who had helped communities through Covid-19.

The occasion was the Studley Festival and saw the scouts offering visitors the chance to write a ‘Thank You’ certificate to volunteers and key workers who did so much during the pandemic – and the response exceeded all expectations.

“We were delighted and ran out of certificates!” said scout leader Karen Marshall.

“We were delighted to be able to give people the chance to publicly say Thank You to all those who worked so tirelessly during the pandemic.

“Key workers who put themselves at risk, Studley Isolation Support Group who did so much to look after vulnerable people and all the other volunteers in the village who just helped make lockdown life a little easier.”

Many children took their certificates home to give to their parents or grandparents who had become their home schoolers and home scout leaders during lockdowns, added Karen.

All the other certificates are now proudly displayed outside the scout hut in the heart of the village.
