DEDICATED teacher Jo Holmes said a fond farewell to Holyoakes Field First School this week after stepping down to retire.
The deputy head teacher’s departure comes as the Bridge Street school itself gets ready to move into new purpose-built premises in Brockhill.
Headteacher Tasnim Koser said: “Having joined the school as a newly qualified teacher in September 1989, Jo Holmes has dedicated the last 32 years of her professional career to the Holyoakes Field First School community.
“During that time, she has seen many changes but what has defined her throughout is her resolve and determination to put children first.
“She has touched the lives of so many pupils and their families over the years. Her work as a ‘Thrive’ practitioner will be her legacy as this really has transformed the lives of so many. Happy retirement Mrs Holmes!”
