A NEW residents’ association has been set up in Headless Cross.
And locals have got big plans for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee and hoping to have a Great British street party.
Yvonne Jovanovic chairperson of the association said: “We have recently started to do a monthly afternoon tea for those members of the community who feel isolated and this has been a great success.
“We are also continuing with monthly Saturday night drinks and again holding a summer barbecue, Halloween and Christmas events which we hope will become annual.
“Hopefully with the support from the residents we will be able to have a Christmas Tree at the top of the Close with memorial baubles with donations going to a local charity.”
The association has also supported nine families from Vaynor First School with food parcels for the summer holidays, Yvonne saying they were overwhelmed with food donations from the residents, as were the staff at Vaynor.
“We are also hoping to hold a Breast Cancer Awareness Afternoon Tea and Macmillan coffee morning in the Close later in the year,” added Yvonne.
“Looking forward to 2022 we hope to hold a street party for the Queen’s Platinum celebrations.”
