TRINTY High School has been accepted onto UCL’s Centre for Holocaust Education, Beacon School 2021-22 programme.
It’s a huge accolade for the history department of the town centre school, one of a handful to be accepted each year. It comes as a result of the dedication and commitment of stafff to enhance the teaching and learning about the Holocaust.
As part of the application process the department had to demonstrate how critically important Holocaust education is in the curriculum, as well as school wide.
As a Holocaust Beacon School, THS will become a hub within its Bordesley Academy Trust and the local area helping to improve teaching standards, raise achievement and strengthen the cross-curricular provision of Holocaust education.
The move also represents a huge opportunity for students of THS to partner with London-based UCL, one of the world’s top-rated universities for education, particularly Holocaust education.
Over the course of the academic year staff will work closely with UCL to increase their expertise on the subject.
Headteacher Adrian Ward said: “This is a great accolade to be given. It is very important for Holocaust education to continue in schools and we are very proud to become a Beacon School to for this.”
