THERE were plenty of laughs for a serious cause when Redditch Rugby Club hosted a comedy night.
It was all to raise funds for Ash Mooney a regular first team player who suffered life changing injuries in a match last month.
The evening was a complete sell out and those lucky enough to get a ticket were richly entertained by a host of comedians gathered by local comedy promoter Craig Dixon aka ‘Laffin Chimp’.

All the acts gave their time for free to boost the funds.
Doug Carter, Chris Too with his guitar, Lovell Smith and Roger Swift with visual dad gags entertained the audience before the final act, Mr Badger, left the crowd wondering what they had just witnessed.
Craig, a former player at the club, MC’d the evening and was in charge of the auction of rugby shirts, balls and tickets raising hundreds of pounds to add to the ticket money.

Together with a very well supported raffle, in total more than £2,500 was raised for Ash’s fund and the rugby club would like to thank Craig and his team for supporting the event and everyone who attended for making it such a memorable night,
Thanks are also extended to everyone who donated prizes for the raffle and the auction.
All told close to 1,000 people have contributed to Ash’s go fund me page taking the amount raised to an incredible £33,000.
However, this is still way short of the £40,000 target set to provide him with at least some of the care he will probably need for the rest of his life.
