Homes in Studley without electricity as Storm Barra sweeps in

Redditch Editorial 7th Dec, 2021   0

PROPERTIES in Studley have been left without power as Storm Barra rages.

In all 57 properties have been affected in the incident, which was reported around midday today, Tuesday, December 7.

Western Power Distribution expect power to be resumed around 6pm this evening.

The cuts, affecting homes in the Node Hill area of the village, come after strong winds and heavy rain lashed the region as Storm Barra swept eastwards across Ireland and the British Isles.

Frank Saunders, chief meteorologist at the Met Office, said: “Strong winds arriving across the west through Tuesday morning, will spread inland and reach eastern areas through the afternoon and early evening.

“Gusts of 45-50 mph are expected widely, with 60-70 mph in exposed coastal locations. The strongest winds will ease across inland areas into the overnight period.”

Barra is the second named storm of the season and will follow in the footsteps of Storm Arwen late last month which brought strong winds and snow to much of the county.
