Morrisons and Christ Church to the rescue in Matchborough

Redditch Editorial 24th Dec, 2021   0

CHRIST Church in Matchborough came to the rescue to provide funding for the annual Christmas tree in the district centre.

Ward Councillor Juliet Brunner said: “It was really down to the wire and thankfully Christ Church in Matchborough stepped in to save the day.”

Christ Church took the decision to forgo its tree in the church so that the whole community of Matchborough could benefit.

Coun Brunner added: “Funding has been difficult to find this year so I am doubly grateful to Christ Church and it’s congregation for its generosity.”

Coun Brunner has also been working with Morrisons Community Champion Bev Allington to deliver some Christmas cheer to the community.

Morrisons have donated Christmas cards that can be coloured in and a selection of selection boxes and Coun Brunner will be working with local churches and schools to distribute them.

In previous years she has also organised community Christmas carol concerts and a Christmas lunch for the local luncheon club all which involved participants from local nurseries and schools.

She said: “I am saddened that our usual festivities have had to be shelved keeping everyone safe is the main priority.

“I am so grateful to both Bev and Morrisons for stepping in with some sweet treats.”

Bev added: “When Juliet contacted me I was delighted to help and I do hope that this does bring some festive cheer to the community.”
