REDDITCH MP Rachel Maclean has met with health bosses to discuss a timeframe for the return of the Garden Suite chemotherapy unit to the Alexandra Hospital.
It comes after fears it may be permanently located at Kidderminster Hospital – where it had been temporarily moved to due to the Covid crisis – were eased.
On Wednesday this week, February 23, the MP once again met with the Worcestershire Acute Hospital NHS Trust’s chief executive, Matthew Hopkins, to discuss the return of the Garden Suite to the Alex.
“Following confirmation the Garden Suite will rightly be returned to the Alex, I’m continuing to hold the Trust to account to ensure the service is now returned as soon as possible,” said Mrs Maclean.
“I’m told work is already underway on finding the best location for the Garden Suite at the Alex.
“I understand it will need its own entrance, which is why the Trust is examining where it is best to locate it at our hospital.
“I hope to provide a further update once this location appraisal has been completed next month.”
