Six 'young men' arrested after man dies outside Asda in Redditch

SIX ‘young men’ have been arrested after a man died following an incident in Redditch.

It happened outside the Asda supermarket on Jinnah Road at around 7.20pm last night (Tuesday, March 8).

Redditch police officers and West Midlands Ambulance Service attended but despite their best efforts, the man, aged 53 and from Redditch died.

Officers are currently supporting the man’s family at this extremely difficult time.




Following a search of the area, six men, who police describe as ‘young’ were arrested in connection with the incident and remain in custody.

Officers are currently remain at the scene and enquiries are ongoing.


Redditch Police Inspector Lee Page said: “Several arrests have been made after a dreadful incident at Asda in Redditch last night.

“My thoughts are with the victim’s family.

“Detectives are working around the clock and my team will be out in town today to reassure the community.

“Witnesses are urged to get in touch.”

Redditch MP Rachel Maclean added via twitter: “My thoughts are with the family and friends of the man at this incredibly difficult time.

“If you were in the area of Asda around the time of the incident, or saw anything that could help the police, please call them on 101”
