MALC’S Barber Shop In Lodge Park recently held a fund raiser in aid of long time customer Pete Martin’s anti knife crime campaign.

Pete’s been has been a regular at the shop for more than 30 years and been a leading light in the battle against young people carrying knives across the region.

Staff first of all held a raffle stretching over several weeks and on the day of the big draw wore fancy dress.

A grateful Pete was also there to talk about his work and the local Safer Neighbourhood Team from West Mercia Police also dropped in to show their support.

During March Pete’s Redditch Self Defence Association visited nearly 1,500 young people in local schools to warn them of the dangers of knife crime as well as supporting victims and witnesses in Redditch.

“Without the support of local businesses such as Malcs we could not reach as many young people as we do,” said Pete.

The event raised more than £500 in total with prizes were donated by friends and businesses.
