“IT’S going to improve safety in the village for both drivers and pedestrians” – that’s the verdict of Studley District Councillor Peter Hencher-Serafin after railings were installed outside the Nisa store on the High Street.
The Lib Dem Studley North councillor, backed by Studley Parish Council, took action following concern over motorists parking fully on the pavement outside the shop.
By doing so they were blocking the view of drivers emerging from a busy driveway for the rest of the shops as well as reducing space for pedestrians.
Coun Hencher-Serafin first called on Warwickshire County Highways who inspected the site and agreed there was an issue.
Then, with sponsorship from Studley-based transportation giant Allelys who paid for the installation, the work was given the go-ahead.
“I’d like to thank Graham Stanley from Highways, Balfour Beatty who carried out the work and David Allely for sponsoring the railings.
“It will make that corner of Nisa much safer for both pedestrians and drivers and it means children will be able to park their bikes against the railings instead of just leaving them on the ground.”
