Redditch Lions add their backing to Community First Responders

Redditch Editorial 10th May, 2022   0

REDDITCH’S newly reformed Community First Responders got a timely boost last week – courtesy of Redditch Lions.

We recently told how the town’s CFRs were now back in action and appealing for help to get them on the road.

They now have a vehicle and last week the Lions president Anne Thetford donated a defibrillator to the cause plus a cheque for £200 to help them buy more kit.

Community First Responders are volunteers fully trained by West Midlands Ambulance Service and are directly linked to ambulance control.

Being not only local but knowing their area, they are often first on the scene of any incident and can quickly start treating injured people and get them stable before paramedics arrive with an ambulance.

Mike Andrews of Redditch Lions said: “We are more than happy to support Redditch’s Community First Responders who do such a fantastic job and we are delighted to see them start up once again in our town.

“Their name is so fitting because they are an essential service for our community.”
