FORMER Redditch Standard employee Shelle McGahan is making waves on the music scene.
Shelle worked in sales at our Church Green East offices while she completed a law degree, but now she’s flying high on the airwaves after being played on Radio 2.
She recently performed at Sheffield City Hall with Grammy award-winning and Sheffield native Eliot Kennedy and on May 20 she’ll be supporting T’Pau in Great Torrington before playing at the Mello Festival for the Jubilee celebrations.
“It’s going well. I have a documentary being made about my career change and a fly on the wall diary and this will run alongside my debut album which I am in the studio writing,” she said.
“I will also be doing a lot of promos for the launch via TV and radio so that’s exciting but as my producer tells me I need to finish the album first!
“Songs are literally falling from my lips to be honest, as I write from the heart and there has been a lot going on in the world, plus this is a massive career change for me and so there’s a lot to say!”
Shelle’s next single ‘The House’ is being released at the end of the month with her take on the REM classic ‘Losing my Religion’ on the B-side available through all the usual music platforms.
Shelle can also be followed on all social media platforms and via YouTube.
