All smiles after school retains 'Good' rating following inspection

STAFF at Moon’s Moat First School are delighted after it retained their ‘Good’ judgement following a recent Ofsted Inspection.

The lead inspector praised the school and recognised that pupils are happy and enjoy their lessons.

She noted that teachers do not accept any poor behaviour and that it if happens, they sort it out quickly.

She also recognised that the school actively promotes acceptance and friendship, that staff are fair and kind to pupils and that pupils know how the school’s values guide their behaviour.

The school is well supported by its Governors.

The inspector also recognised that the school has a solid record of teaching pupils to read and that the school is taking steps in the right direction to further strengthen the teaching of early reading.

The school has recently moved to a new approach to teaching early reading and now needs to ensure this approach is followed in all classes with sufficient consistency to ensure all pupils get the practice they need.

The school was praised for its attention to early number in ensuring that pupils learn and practice what they need to know.

The inspection also found that the school has actions in place for further developing the curriculum going forward, and some subject leaders must now ensure that the key knowledge that pupils need to know and remember, is clear across the school.

Headteacher Sara Fisher said she was very proud to be part of the Moon’s Moat First School community and that the school’s ethos of ‘children learn what they live’ has been recognised and praised.
