THE ROYALS won’t be the only family celebrating this Jubilee weekend as Tim Piper will be fulfilling a lifelong ambition when he reopens the Cricketers Arms with the help of his sons.

The pub on Beoley Road has been bought by Tim and his sons, Thomas and Bradford and will re-open on June 2, just in time for the Queen’s Jubilee.

And other members of Tim’s family will be helping to help with the day-to-day running of the Cricketers.

All three of the new pub owners also run other businesses, with Tim currently operating a skip hire firm and his sons owning their own cabling business.

The three owners will be keeping the bar as it is, but they have been renovating other areas of the pub for the last month.

The main new feature will be the ‘Pipers Lounge’, a new sports lounge featuring six TV screens.

There will also feature a shuffleboard table, two pool tables, a darts board and beer pong.

Tim said: “It’s been a dream of mine to own a pub and I’m thrilled it’s finally happening.

“It’s been made even more special to me that my two sons are involved too.

“We’re looking forward to opening our doors, especially as it’s Jubilee weekend and we hope that everyone can come down, have a laugh and celebrate with us.”
