A NEW running event is coming to the Kingfisher centre in Redditch this weekend.
Inspired by the Kingfisher Trail, this new race will take runners from the town centre out through Moons Moat and the stunning Arrow Valley Country Park, on a relatively flat route on October 30.
The event is brought to you by Raceways Events, a community interest company, who are also the organisers of the Leamington Spa Half Marathon and the nearby Alcester 10K series.
The race will be co-hosted by Redditch BID, to strengthen ties with the local community, and to build a lasting legacy in the town by involving the community as much as possible through sponsorship, volunteer groups and businesses.
The official charity partner of the race is Marathon Kids UK, a children’s charity who are on a mission to reduce childhood obesity and improve the mental, physical and social well being of young people and their families.
Marathon Kids UK hold a weekly Saturday morning event at Abbey Stadium.
Sam Taylor, events manager for Raceways, said “We are so excited to bring this new race to Redditch.
“There’s such a great Marathon Kids UK event in Redditch, and we can’t wait to build on that.
“After a really tough few years, it’s fantastic to finally have brand new events again!”
All event finishers will receive a race T shirt and an amazing medal at the finish line – and as with all of Raceways’ events, there will be a children’s 1km Fun Run which is free to enter.
