Ground-breaking ceremony marks start of a new chapter

A GROUND-breaking ceremony to mark the start of construction for CALGAVIN’S new Centre for Flow Processing took place on October 14.

The new building in Alcester aims to integrate both industry-level research and university-led research through professionals and students working together in the science and engineering sector.

Martin Gough, Managing Director at CALGAVIN, said: “It has taken years of planning and hard work and sincerely thank you to all who had supported CALGAVIN in getting to this significant point in the development.”




The company CALGAVIN is well supported by several UK and European Universities and, in particular, its partnership with the University of Birmingham School of Chemical Engineering.

Jonathan Seville, Professor of Formulation Engineering at the University of Birmingham Jonathan Seville, said: “The School of Chemical Engineering is proud to be working alongside CALGAVIN on the exciting new Centre for Flow Processing, which is a terrific opportunity for students and staff of the University to work alongside CALGAVIN’s staff on projects with huge industrial impact.”


Present at the event were honorary guests, Rt. Hon. Nadim Zahawi MP, guest speakers, The Mayor of Alcester, Cllr Kathryn Cargill and Professor of Formulation Engineering at the University of Birmingham Jonathan Seville.

Rt. Hon Nadhim Zahawi MP, made the first dig into the ground on which the new Centre for Flow Processing will be built.

He said: “CALGAVIN, is a unique company and continues to work with science, discovery and investments, turning research into real development and global exports.”
