REDDITCH boxer Leo Fanthome had a triumphant first foray back into the ring after four years at a show at Coventry’s Triumph Social Club over the weekend.
The 24-year-old beat Coventry fighter Daniel Roberts by a unanimous decision on Sunday in his long-awaited 24th career bout.
The first round saw Fanthome put in a dominant display, pressing forward towards the end of the round and landing a series of heavy shots.
The Redditch boxer picked up the pace in the second round, landing a ferocious flurry of shots that resulted in an early standing count for the Coventry boxer.
Robert’s experience saw him able to weather the storm, stopping Fanthome in his tracks by landing an impressive array of punches.
An intense third round saw both fighters push forward for the win, with Fanthome utilising his quick feet and landing some heavy combinations.
Fanthome first took up boxing a decade ago but decided to take a break, aged 20, to focus on his career.
He added: “It is so good to be back boxing, especially back with my coach, Sarah Lee.
“Now I feel we have a great game plan and I’m looking forward to some exciting times ahead so watch his space.”
