REDDITCH Local History Museum showcased items from the Town’s rich heritage to MP Rachel Maclean during a visit to celebrate the venue’s success.
Museum Trustee Pete Harris gave Mrs Maclean a full tour of the exhibits, including a stunning miniature of 1950s Evesham Street and a specially constructed cinema showing images of local people’s lives from the town’s past.
The museum was originally set up by three local historians with the aim of celebrating the past and showing people how the town has evolved over the years.
It is entirely run by volunteers with many youngsters given the chance to complete their work experience there.
The museum recently celebrated its first anniversary, during which it has gathered more than 500 items from Redditch’s past in its archives.
Pete said: “Rachel Maclean’s reaction to our many exhibits was truly amazing.
“For too many years the town has not been able to fully show its heritage and memories and I think everyone acknowledges how fantastic this museum is.”
