Redditch school pays tribute to sports coach Cody Fisher

A REDDITCH school have paid tribute to sports coach, Cody Fisher.

Woodrow First School and Nursery said they are devastated to hear the ‘tragic and needless death of Cody Fisher, who many of their pupils know as their sports coach.

The 23-year-old was stabbed on Boxing Dayat The Crane in Digbeth.

Despite efforts to save him, he was pronounced dead around 30 minutes later.




In a tweet, the school said: “Everyone is devastated to hear of the tragic and needless death of this friendly and talented young man.

“Many of the children know Cody as their sports coach and love and admire him.


“Our thoughts are with his family and friends.

“May he rest in peace.”

Redditch MP, Rachel Maclean said: “My thoughts are also with Cody’s family and friends, such a waste of a life of someone who gave so much to his community and his sport.”

Two men have beencharged with the murder and remanded in custody after appearing at Birmingham Crown Court on Wednesday.

Kami Carpenter, aged 21, of no fixed address, and Remy Gordon, aged 22, of Cofton Park Drive, Rednal, were charged with murder and affray.

The pair did not enter a plea to the murder charge but both pleaded guilty to the affray charge.

They were ordered to reappear at Birmingham Crown Court earlier this week and a further hearing was also set for January 30.
