Redditch BID boss ready to embrace new year

REDDITCH BID manager Muj Rahman has been giving his thoughts on the biggest opportunities and concerns facing businesses in the town in 2023.

The BID focuses on helping businesses in the town by bringing more events to Redditch as well as boosting its profile.

Highlights from last year’s Redditch BID events include the town’s food festival in May, the Christmas extravaganza show in November and a celebration of all things Redditch at the business awards.

And all of these events are set to return to Redditch in 2023, along with the classic motor show.

Muj said, alongside these returning events, Redditch BID was working with other stakeholders to provide more spectacles aimed at arts and culture this year.

He added: “The year ended on such a high with the Christmas Extravaganza Show which was attended by thousands, and this event also provided the platform for local talent to perform alongside celebrities such as Twist and Pulse and the D-Day Darlings.

“We are working on how to improve on the successes of last year, incorporating the best aspects of each event and improving further to maximise impact in our town.”

Muj believes the next few years will see some huge changes to Redditch and he encouraged people to get involved with the BID and take the opportunity to express their opinion.

“We represent the businesses in the town and, through us, we can be their voice to the changes ahead of us.”

Muj said the increased cost of running a business has been the biggest source of concern for Redditch businesses and added it would be a ‘challenging period’.

Redditch BID partnered with Kingfisher Rotary to put on monthly networking events to help businesses struggling to get by and encouraged local entrepreneurs to attend and ‘get involved in the conversation’.

“We can only get through the tough times ahead by working together, helping and supporting each other.

“There are many opportunities for support and you can find out the latest news at these events.”
