COLLEAGUES, family and friends have paid tribute to Gareth Prosser, who has died.
Gareth served in the police force for 38 years and had been serving as a Redditch Borough Councillor for eight years.
Leader of Redditch Borough Council, Coun Matt Dormer said: “A true gent, a wonderful husband to his wife Lynn, a great father, a brilliant Grandad and a true friend.
“He serviced the people of Crabbs Cross for eight years, and for two of those years he served the people of Redditch as Mayor and what an amazing job he did.
“Nothing was ever too much trouble for Gareth, he would go to any event whenever he was required and enjoyed every moment of it.
“He will be sorely missed by all who had the privilege of meeting him.”
Coun Prosser served as Mayor for two terms – 2020-21 and 2021-22, the only Councillor to ever serve two full consecutive terms as Mayor, and he was portfolio holder for Community Safety in 2018-19.
He also regularly served on the licensing committee, overview and scrutiny committee, planning committee and crime and disorder scrutiny panel.
Gareth died on January 13th 2023.
