REDDITCH United have been given a cash boost from Parkinson’s UK to help deliver walking football sessions at the club’s Trico stadium this summer for those living with the condition.
The sessions will be tailored to support coordination and movement. It is estimated 446 residents from Redditch and Bromsgrove have Parkinson’s with 56 people over 45 diagnosed each year.
A total of 58 per cent of those with the condition in those areas are aged between 70 and 84.
Redditch United’s community officer Balvinder Shekhon said: “This is another opportunity for us to support our community and create inspiring experiences.
“We are proud of our partnership with Parkinson’s UK and looking forward to welcoming enthusiastic participants to the football club.
“This further highlights the power of collaboration between organisations to improve physical activity levels and wellbeing.”
