THE FIRE service have praised the majority of motorists for heeding advice about driving through floodwater, writes Zara Parkes.

The week before last, Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service, attended 15 vehicles stranded in water in seven days (January 6 to 13).

Eight of those rescues were carried out in just 24-hours between the Thursday and Friday morning.

Crews attended multiple rescues in several areas, including Shell Ford, Himbleton, three vehicles in Letton and another in Goorich.

A woman in her 60s was also pulled from water in Hoarwithy after her vehicle was stuck in floodwater.

Since putting out warnings, HWFRS has only attended two incidents of vehicles in water – near Ross-on-Wye and close to Bewdley Football club.
