OUR photographer Marcus Mingins captured this wintry scene of a frosty morning at Ipsley Alders Marsh Nature Reserve, where English Longhorn cattle are grazing.

The site is part of Worcestershire Wildlife Trust’s Forest of Feckenham Living Landscape in the Winyates Green area of town and cattle, whose thick hides are shielding them from the elements, are the primary land management source.

The trust aims to maintain and enhance the floristically diverse open fen and open water features at Ipsley Alders, which is one of only three fen wetlands within the county and is particularly rich in wetland species such as ragged robin, water mint, dragonflies, warblers, woodpeckers and harvest mice.

The land is a semi-ancient woodland, accessed by public footpath and bordering the edge of Blacksoils Brook which flows towards Arrow Valley Park in the opposite direction from the nature reserve.
